It’s become sort of an tradition over the years to head over to the gulf coast to watch the Phillies, in their green, on every St. Patrick’s day. This year was no exception.
Despite the scoreboard only showing 81 degrees, it was a very warm day in Clearwater. The crowd of 10,816 was a record attendance for Brighthouse Field. Even though the Toronto Blue Jays won the game, 7 to 6, it was a great time anyway.
This past February, I was in Cleveland, Ohio for a wedding. While there, it was evident that the city was going through some rough times (Population today is half of what it was in 1950). However, the city stands strong behind their basketball team. Championships don’t come very often to Cleveland, but that doesn’t keep the fans from supporting their teams.
The past couple days has been tough on a city whose star, Lebron James, announced that he was leaving for Miami. Which made me think back to this quick picture that I took from the Quicken Loans Arena of a rare beautiful winter sky in northeast Ohio.

On March 17th, I had the pleasure to travel to Clearwater, Florida where my beloved Philadelphia Phillies were taking on the New York Yankees for a Spring Training game. It was a gorgeous day and as is tradition with the Philadelphia Phillies on St. Patricks Day, they wore green uniforms. These jerseys will be auctioned off later in the year with the procedes going towards ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).
